Threadless Postage

November 12, 2008 by buytshirts

Well, it’s been about 2 weeks since I ordered my threadless tshirts, and i’m getting excited at the idea that they should be arriving soon.

But it is different buying a tshirt online, as opposed to walking into a shop and buying a tshirt.

When you buy online you have the silly postage issue to worry about.

1. You have to pay for the postage

2. You have to wait for your items (in my case my threadless tshirts) to arrive

3. You have to worry that your items won’t arrive coz they’ll get lost in the post.

Anyway, my threadless tees aren’t meant to arrive yet, so i’m patient.

threadless tshirt review

Threadless is one of the largest tshirt competition sites, and has a huge range of tshirts to choose from.

As I entered the Threadless page, the first thing that caught my eye was that there were specials on the site. So I clicked on the cheapest, and was amazed that for $9, there were five pages of different tshirt designs. Having said that, at first sight most of the tshirt designs on these pages weren’t anywhere to the level that you see on the Threadless home page.

Nevertheless, liking a bargain, I persevered, and finally found a tshirt that I liked – and clicked through to the page to check it out closer. Only problem is that it was sold out not just in my size, but every size except one.

After about 3 minutes I had looked through all the pages, and found 2 designs that were pretty cool, so added them to the threadless basket, and clicked the check out button.

It was a relatively easy process, and just before I entered in my personal and credit card details, it mentioned a coupon code. So I went to google, and typed in a few combinations and found tons of sites giving away threadless coupons. Wow! That was easy I thought – a further discount on my purchase. But the first one gave me a message saying “this voucher is not valid”, and the second one did the same.

But the third threadless coupon code I found was successful, and another $3 discount was mine for the taking.

Within minutes I had an email in my inbox to let me know that my threadless order had been submitted.

And then the interesting part came in – I’m a double XL but I showed Mr E my purchase and he told me that threadless use different suppliers for their tshirts, and that the sizes might be different to what i’m use to – and sure enough when i went back to the tshirt designs i had chosen, i noticed that they were using different suppliers for the tshirt blanks.

There seem to be 3 different suppliers that threadless use for their tshirts – american apparel, fruit of the loom, and the threadless inhouse style (the one they have created themselves).

And then I noticed that each page actually had a “tshirt size chart” next to the design – don’t know how i missed that the first time.

The sizes of american apparalel, fruit of the loom and the threadless internal were all pretty much the same size, so i wasn’t too bothered that i didn’t pick up the different tshirt types earlier.

What really impressed me about threadless though was that within about 3 hours, I received a 2nd email from them telling me that my order had been shipped! Wow! That is fast. 3 hours from the time I bought my tshirts, to them processing my credit card details and checking that the card details and payment were legit, to moving it through to packing the tshirt, and actually putting it on the posting rack (or does “your tshirt has been shipped” mean that it was actually already picked up by the post office?).

Anyway, $9 each for a tshirt is a bargain, and I got a $3 threadless coupon code (thanks http://www.retailmenot.com/view/threadless.com for giving me a coupon that worked), so for $15 plus postage, I now have 2 threadless tshirts on their way over to me.

First impressions of threadless – IMPRESSIVE. Great looking website, easy to use, quick navigation, quick loading, great prices, nice designs, and the customer service was amazing.

the only concern that i’ve got at this stage is whether i’m going to have to pay further customs duty when the tshirt arrives, as i’m outside of the US. But in a few weeks i’ll know that!

tshirt reviews

There are so many tshirt sites on the web today. Some are straight ecommerce tshirt sites where they simply sell tshirts. But other websites are more innovative – they have created a way of the community getting involved – from submitting tshirt designs to voting on the designs – and there are so many different ways that the sites work.

So if you want us to buy tshirts from one of the sites, just let us know which one, and perhaps we’ll pop into that site next.

And as I founded one of the most popular tshirt competition sites I know what to look for.

Let the tshirt reviews begin…
